Pixma IP4920 Printhead Holder Does Not Return to the Position for Replacing Ink [SOLVED]

If the Printhead holder does not return to its position and replacing print cartridges doesn’t seem to be possible, follow the guidelines mentioned below to fix this issue.

  • The first check that needs to be carried out is to look at the Pixma IP4920 device and check whether the Power LED is glowing. If the Power LED is not on, close the Pixma device’s top cover and turn it on. The Power LED will blink when the device is switched on. Wait until the Power LED glows steadily and then proceed to open the device’s top cover.
  • Check whether the Alarm LED is blinking on the Pixma IP4920 device. The blinking of the LED follows a pattern. Observe it and check how many times it blinks before it turns off and starts blinking again. This will tell you about the error code. You can look for the error code corresponding to the number of times the LED blinks in the manual to troubleshoot and solve the issue.
  • If the top cover of the Pixma IP4920 printer has been open for more than ten minutes, the print cartridge carriage would have moved to its current position to prevent ink from drying up. Try closing the Pixma device’s top cover and opening it again to enable the print cartridge carriage to stop at the center.
  • If you have been using the Pixma IP 4920 printer for a very long period continuously, the print head may have overheated. To prevent injury to the user, the print cartridge carriage is configured to not stop at the center. However, you can solve this issue by closing the top cover and waiting for a while. Give the Pixma IP 4920 printhead some time to cool down to a safe working temperature and then open it. Now you will be able to gain access to the printhead and replace it.
