3 Ways on How to Fix Google Home Not Connecting to Wi-Fi Router or Internet


When Wi-Fi slows down, so does our entire day- especially when you have Google Home at home. Google Home devices are increasingly inhabiting urban homes these days. They are being assigned several tasks and relied on too much. Hence, when these devices stop responding, chances are that your entire routine gets ruined.

Many a time, your router might be to blame. You’d be surprised to know how easily this issue can be fixed. Here is a list of things you can try out to get the Home device back on track.  

 
  • Turn on Wi-Fi with the Airplane Mode on:

Sometimes the Google Home device might not find the internet, and the setup process might fall short of completion.

 
  1. It is better to switch on the Airplane mode on your phone.
  2. Then, enable the Wi-Fi connection in it.
  3. Now, launch the Google Home app and repeat the setup process.
 

After the successful connection of the device to the local Wi-Fi, remember to disable the Airplane mode. 

  • Pick the Right Wi-Fi Band:
  • Google Home devices might connect to either 2.4 GHz or 5GHz band.

    1. If the router is far from the Home device, try the 2.4GHz band.
    2. If you think interference is the cause of this issue, use the 5GHz band.
     
  • Reboot the Router:

    As silly and obvious it might sound, this step is a promising troubleshooting step.

       
    1. Pull out the router’s power cable and wait for ten seconds before plugging it back in.
    2. Meanwhile, you can also reboot the Google Home device.
