Amazon Echo Dot Unboxing & How to Setup [Guide]

Amazon Echo Dot is a dedicated device for smart home control. Necessarily, it doesn’t require to be connected to a smartphone. Amazon Echo Dot can do just about everything its big brother Amazon Echo can do, at a much smaller size. If you have a smart home, you need to have a way to talk to it. Alexa, Amazon’s voice assistant, is integrated with the Echo Dot. She can read your daily news, help kids with the homework, and a whole lot more.

  • Plug your Echo Dot device into the power outlet.
  • The Alexa app must be installed on your phone and open it.
  • Select Devices in the lower right corner.
  • Locate the Plus sign in the top right corner of the app and click it.
  • Touch Add Device. Press the Amazon Echo icon and then choose the image of your device.
  • Infer that the device is in Setup Mode once the blue light ring turns to orange.
  • Hold on for the Echo Dot device to show up on your phone.
  • Select it and pick Amazon-XXX. Head back to the Alexa app.
  • Click the name of the local Wi-Fi network and enter its password.
  • Choose the room where your Echo Dot is located.

After some time, Alexa will declare that it has downloaded an update and requires rebooting. There’s a long list of cool things you can do with it. Dive in and explore them. Asking questions and being responded to immediately by a voice assistant is not futuristic anymore. It is right now. It is the present!
