Scanner Function Can't be Performed [Best Guidelines]

In case you cannot perform the scan function using your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28a printer, follow the guidelines mentioned below.

  • As the first step, try resetting the printer. By doing so, there are chances of the printer issue getting resolved.
  • On your Mac device, choose the System Preferences option and click on the Print and Fax, Print and Scan or Printers and Scanners. Menu names on the window may vary with respect to the OS of the Mac system.
  • Right-click on the Printers window and choose the option Reset Printing System. A confirmation window will open.
  • Here, you have to click Ok to finish the reset process.
  • Check if the issue is resolved. If the issue exists, then try uninstalling and re-installing the printer software.

In case you have connected your printer using the USB cable, then disconnect it from your printer and system.

  • Click Finder ----→ Go ----→ Application.
  • Open the HP or Hewlett Packard folder. If the HP Uninstaller is in the HP folder, then double-click on it to uninstall the driver. Else, proceed with the next step.
  • Place the HP folder by dragging it to the Trash folder.
  • Once again, click Go ---→ Go to Folder, and then type /Library/Printers ---→ Go.
  • Right-click on the Trash folder and choose the Empty folder option.
  • Now, install your printer driver that is compatible with the OS.
