What to Expect From Laptops in 2019
In 2019, we expect long battery life, more storage and lower prices in the laptop. Laptops are going in two directions in the year 2019. Anyone who needs a laptop expects good performance and design boundaries at a premium price. And the majority of laptop shoppers who need laptops expects for low to mid-range prices, i.e., around $500. The particulars on 2019 models will become more apparent with companies like HP, Dell, Lenovo, etc. We already know about significant developments for 2019, i.e., a new competition in the chip market with lower prices and also more thinner laptops.
According to Richard Fisco, an electronics testing manager at Consumer Reports, more consumers should have at least 256 GB of storage to place applications and big files such as photos and videos. In 2018, only a few laptops with SSDs provided 128 GB of storage. However, the drivers dropped in price at the end of the year. In 2019, consumers can see more laptops that provide 256 GB SSDs without any significant increases in price. Laptop prices could even drop because of the competition in the chip market. Intel dominates computer chip manufacturing. Like the Intel core processors, the Ryzens were multicore processors capable of fast performance with many applications with a difference. Some desktops with Ryzens costs $200 less than comparable Intel computers.
Only limited quantities of Ryzen laptop processors were available in 2018 which could change in 2019. Coming into 2019, Intel is not speaking about price cuts but tells about increasing its performance. In December, the company told analysts that its next-generation processors would debut in 2019. I.e., Gaming performance in thin, light laptops. But gamers would still need computers with separate GPUs (Graphical Processing Units).
