Issue: How to fix Carriage Jam failure for Officejet 6700 printer? [Solved]

If there is a carriage jam failure in your printer, sometimes, it may turn off by itself or may not work even. But it is a fact that if your printer has encountered a paper jam previously and it was not cleared properly, then it may take a hit later. Ideally, resetting the printer should help you resolve the issue but still, if it persists, check if these solutions can help you out.

  • As a least case, if your printer does not respond at all, then you can download the firmware from the manufacturer’s website for your respective printer model and figure out the problem.
  • You will be directed with a set of instructions while updating the firmware; do it and check whether the printer functions.
  • There are other simple tricks to resolve the issue which may or may not help sometimes.
  • Try using different paper brand for printing or print the document or photo using different application.
  • Leave the printer idle at least for a few minutes and restart the machine; check if there is a proper movement in the carriage.
  • Do it twice or thrice if needed.
  • Try to obtain a printer status report to see if it can print the report at least.
  • Unknowingly, if you have left out any jammed pieces of paper inside the printer previously, look for and clear it.
  • Remove and reset the existing ink cartridges to check if it can be resolved.
  • Turn off the printer, access the carriage path and manually move the clutch from the right side to center and center to the left side. If the issue prevails, take your Officejet 6700 printer to a hardware technician.
