Check the print settings on your Personal Computer.
Windows:
- In the software you are using to do the print job, choose the File menu and then click the Print option.
- The Print dialog box opens on your system.
- Choose the model of your HP printer and then select the Properties button.
- Select the Paper/Quality tab and choose the type of paper in the Media drop-down box.
- Click the Advanced tab to open the Advanced Options dialog box.
- Select the OK button twice to apply the settings.
- Choose the Print option to begin the print job.
Mac:
- Open a document, click File, and then select the Print option.
- The Print window appears on your Mac computer.
- Choose the Paper Type/Quality or Media & Quality tab.
Try modifying the following settings:
- Check if the correct type of paper is chosen.
- Try increasing the Print Quality.
- Click the Save button on the Presets menu.
- Verify the grayscale print settings.
- Open the text to be printed and select the File option, and then click Print.
- Choose the Paper Type/Quality window and click the Color Options pop-up menu. If you need color printed outputs, make sure that the Grayscale feature is not selected.
- To save the modified settings for future print jobs, click Save in the Presets window. If the issue continues, check the ink levels.
- Press the Setup menu on the control panel of your HP printer.
- Press the button that is available next to the OK option to select Ink Information.
- Choose the Estimated Levels option and the Estimated Levels gauge appears on the screen.
- Verify the ink levels of each cartridge in the Estimated Levels gauge. If the ink levels are below the estimated level, change the empty cartridge with a new one that is genuine and compatible with your HP Laserjet 2840 printer.
