3D PRINTING INDUSTRY REVIEW OF THE YEAR FEBRUARY 2019

The month of February in the year 2018 witnessed many 3D printer releases. This month, Stratasys, an American manufacturer of 3D printers, revealed important details of its forthcoming metal 3D printer, and HP amplified its series of Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) systems to add full-color 3D printers.
3D Printing is seeing great heights as it is used in many fields. At the 2018 Winter Olympic in South Korea, the USA Luge Team made use of 3D printing to their sled design. Autodesk, an award-winning software firm, opened a multi-million-pound Advanced Manufacturing Facility in the United Kingdom. Wikipedia also used the 3D printing technology where it allowed people to share their 3D models to the site. Coventry’s Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) opened its call submissions to create an additive manufacturing competency framework and fill the skills gap in the UK.
A lot of innovative techniques are implemented, and it is bringing amazing results. Citing an example of the same, German luxury car manufacturer Porsche introduced a special and vintage spare parts production initiative. Hackrod, a car building technology startup, started a capital crowdfunding campaign with the vision of collecting over $1 million. Another example is the Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne obtained a grant of $994 thousand to initiate its initiation of automated, 3D printed car repair technology.
The Health care sector also received benefits from 3D technology. The Trinity College Dublin (TCD), Ireland, has a specialist 3D bioprinting facility with the support of Johnson & Johnson, and AMBER. The 3D printing industry will flourish more in the coming years if this pace of development remains.
